Plenty of Time to Prepare for Holy Week & Easter

Lent is a time of repentance and a time to remind us of the Passion and Death of Our Lord.

As we enter Holy Week and the celebration of Easter, there is still plenty of time — and plenty of opportunities — to prepare ourselves spiritually for these important times of the Liturgical Year. Lent is a time of penance and reflection, and St. John Neumann Parish will offer a number of special programs and other ways to help draw us closer to the Lord.

Wednesday Evening Mass: A Healing Mass will be said at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday during Lent — offering healing for all parishioners.

Wednesday Afternoon Program: Our Religious Education Department offers weekly programs with Deacon John, from 4:30-5:30 p.m., covering a different topic each week. See the notice on the Religious Education page.

Stations of the Cross: Stations of the Cross will take place at 7:30 p.m. every Friday.

Fast and Abstinence: A reminder that Lent is a time of fast and abstinence. Abstinence takes place on all Fridays of Lent and is required by Catholics age 14 and older. Meat may not be taken on days of abstinence.
Fasting
is observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, by Catholics ages 18-59. One full meal and two lesser meals are allowed, with no eating between meals.

Parishes Schedule Lenten Penance Services
An annual tradition in the Charlotte diocese — parish Lenten services — will continue Saturday 3/24 at Our Lady of Assumption, 3 p.m. (Shamrock Drive); and Sunday: St. Ann, 4 p.m. (Hillside Drive at Park Road).

Lent is a time of penance and reflection, and St. John Neumann Parish will offer a number of special programs and other ways to help draw us closer to the Lord.
